Information about John James Audubon


John Audubon, der am 26. April 1785 in Les Cayes, Haiti, geboren wurde, war ein amerikanischer Naturforscher, Künstler und Autor. Er ist bekannt für seine detaillierten Darstellungen von Vögeln und anderen wilden Tieren in seinem Buch The Birds of America. Nach seiner Geburt wanderte seine Familie nach Frankreich aus, wo Audubon im Alter von fünf Jahren aufwuchs. Er erhielt dort eine formelle Ausbildung in Malerei und Musik, lernte aber auch das Jagen und Sammeln von Vögeln. Audubon kehrte mit 18 Jahren nach Amerika zurück, zuerst nach Philadelphia und dann nach New York. In New York begann Audubon, seine gemalten Porträts von Vögeln zu vermarkten. Er veröffentlichte auch einige Artikel über Vögel und begann, sein Buch The Birds of America zu schreiben und zu illustrieren. Um alles, was er für sein Buch brauchte, zu sammeln, reiste Audubon durch Amerika, um Vögel zu beobachten und zu zeichnen. Audubon veröffentlichte sein Werk über mehrere Jahre hinweg, von 1827 bis 1838. Er reiste dann nach England, um sein Werk dort zu veröffentlichen, und veröffentlichte dort auch sein folgendes Werk, The Viviparous Quadrupeds of America. Er verbrachte die letzten Jahre seines Lebens damit, über die Vögel zu schreiben und zu zeichnen und verstarb schließlich am 27. Januar 1851 in New York City. Audubons künstlerischer Werdegang umfasst die Veröffentlichung von The Birds of America und The Viviparous Quadrupeds of America, die Einführung eines neuen Stils der Tiermalerei, die Erforschung und Beschreibung von Vögeln und anderen wilden Tieren und die Gründung eines Zoos in New York City. Er war auch ein Pionier der Photographie und erforschte die Welt der Ornithologie. Sein Werk hat viele andere Künstler und Forscher inspiriert und begeistert.
