Information about Lucio Fontana


Lucio Fontana wurde am 19. Februar 1899 in Rosario, Argentinien, geboren. Er war einer der wichtigsten Künstler des 20. Jahrhunderts, der die Kunst des Spätmodernismus und der aufkommenden Pop-Art-Bewegung maßgeblich beeinflusste. Fontana begann seine künstlerische Ausbildung im Jahr 1917, als er an der Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Mailand, Italien, studierte. Während seiner Studienzeit entwickelte er seinen eigenen, originellen Stil des Malens und Skulpturierens, der auf dem Konzept des Spatialismus basierte. Dieser Stil war geprägt von einem konzeptuellen Ansatz, bei dem die künstlerische Präsentation des Raumes im Vordergrund stand. Nach seinem Abschluss an der Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera im Jahr 1921 reiste Fontana durch Europa, um seine Kunst auf verschiedenen Ausstellungen zu präsentieren. Er hatte seine ersten Einzelausstellungen in Mailand und Rom und beteiligte sich an zahlreichen Gruppenausstellungen. Im Jahr 1936 kehrte Fontana nach Argentinien zurück und stellte seine Werke auf einer Ausstellung im Museum of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires aus. 1940 zog Fontana dann endgültig nach Europa zurück, um sich ganz der Kunst zu widmen. Er lebte und arbeitete in Mailand, wo er ein Atelier eröffnete und seine erste Serie von abstrakten Gemälden und Skulpturen schuf. Anschließend begann Fontana an seinem Konzept des Spatialismus zu arbeiten, bei dem er seine Gemälde mit Löchern und Rissen durchbrach. Dieses Konzept des Spatialismus wurde von Fontana in einer Reihe von Ausstellungen und Werken wie „Concetti Spaziali” und „Attese” vorgestellt. Fontanas Werke sind in vielen bedeutenden Museen und Galerien auf der ganzen Welt zu sehen, darunter das Museum of Modern Art in New York, das Centre Pompidou in Paris und das Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. Fontana starb am 7. September 1968 in Varese, Italien.
