Schätzpreis: *R (6.000,- €) / (7.500,- $) Sehr persönliche Korrespondenz des Kronprinzen mit der rumänischen Prinzessin Marthe Bibesco (1886-1973), die er im April 1909 während eines Besuches in Bukarest kennen gelernt u. sich in sie verliebt hatte. Es folgte im Juni eine Einladung nach Berlin. Unter dem Vorwand sich über Politik u. Stimmung in Frankreich durch die in Paris lebende Marthe Bibesco auf dem Laufenden zu halten, erhielt er von ihrem Gatten die Erlaubnis mit ihr zu korrespondieren. Die vorwiegend nach Paris u. Posada in Rumänien adressierten Briefe sind durchweg in Englisch verfaßt u. mit Bleistift geschrieben, sie sind undatiert, das Datum erschließt sich aus dem Poststempel. Am Anfang des Albums eine Briefkte. der Prinzessin Marie, der späteren rumän. Königin (Bukarest 26.IV.1909), über den Besuch des Kronprinzen: "...Your photograph gave him great pleasure, but he said he must not look at it too much! He is very openhearted and very ready to fall under feminine charm especially dark women he tells me...". Die Anrede des Kronprinzen an Marthe B. lautet stets: "My dear little Princess" oder "My darling little Princess". - (Budapest 29. Apr.): "...You looked so lovely especially your big [g]rey eyes, that I pined to give you a kiss... you interest me very much, and we must be good friends dont you think so too?...".
