1852-68, an extensive and valuable mint/unused and used highly specialised collection formed over many years in scholarly fashion, accurately classified with many stamps with plate position references and containing a wide range of shades, multiples and varieties, postal forgeries etc. The collection comprises 1852-64 ½b. grey/lilac shades (52) including unused (11) with an interpanneau pair and lilac shades (4), used with a block of four and pairs (9, three are lilac shades), ½b. violet shades (31) including unused (20) with blocks of four (2), 1b. (67) including unused (22) with an interpanneau block of four, 2b. (97) with a wide range of shades and including mint blocks of ten and six, 3b. (49) including a mint corner block of four (brown shade), 4b. light grey-brown shades (33) including unused (3, faults) and a used interpanneau pair, 4b. pale yellow shades (22) including three unused pairs, 4b. yellow (16) including seven unused, 5b. (93) including a mint corner block of four, used pairs (18, two interpanneau), 5b. postal forgeries Type I (2, one on piece) and Type II (2, one on piece, the other with good margins), 6b. (51) with a fine range of shades and papers and including unused (17) with a mint block of four and a pair, 7b. (39) including mint and used blocks of four, 8b.
