Black was a prominent New York City electrotyper in the mid-19th century. Here he has cast the text of the Declaration of Independence in full surrounding a reproduction of the obverse of C.C. Wright's medal commemorating the signing, itself after the Trumbull painting. Completed with facsimile signatures and decorative borders.
