1897 The Little John Cycle Co. ‘Little John’ Lady’s Bicycle. A well-crafted and rather rare bicycle from this respected but short-lived company, this machine possess a 20-inch maroon enamelled frame, 28-inch front and 26-inch rear wheels, an inch-pitch block chain driving a fixed wheel, the chain and chain wheel covered by a shaped wooden guard, nickel-plated 18-inch handlebars with a lever operated plunger brake and a Lucas ‘Baby’ bell fitted with turned wooden grips, the wide mudguard at the rear has a cord skirt-guard, 6-inch cranks operating through an engineer’s screw gripped bottom bracket, a detailed history of the company accompanies this lot.
