1927 BASEBALL SIGNED BY BABE RUTH AND LOU GEHRIG

Estimate
US$20,000 - US$30,000
Price realised:
US$28,000
Beschreibung:

1927 Baseball Signed By Babe Ruth And Lou Gehrig From the height of their reign together, the offered baseball bears the signatures of the greatest slugging duo ever featured in a single lineup. Manufacturer's markings on this OAL (Johnson) ball indicate it could only be from 1927. The style of signatures presented by Ruth and Gehrig add credence to this. Babe has signed his customary sweet spot position with a beautiful and large signature in blue ink. The quotes around the Babe portion of the signature are typical of the period. Gehrig has added his blue ink signature to the panel west of Ruth's. Ruth signature rates 7-8/10 while Gehrig is slightly less bold rating 6/10. There is about a 1/2" long impression in the ball that runs partially through the "G" of "Gehrig". The ball has some soiling and general surface wear, but given the overall quality and date of origin, holds up among the finer Ruth/Gehrig combos in the hobby. LOA from PSA/DNA.
