1928 FORD MODEL AF TUDOR SALOON Registration No. ANO 211A Engine No. AF943991 Midnight blue with light blue coachline and black mudguards, beige interior Engine: four cylinder, side-valve, 3.05 x 4¼ ins. bore & stroke, 2,033cc; Gearbox: three speed, centre change; Suspension: front and rear, transverse semi-elliptic leaf springs; Brakes: four wheel mechanical. Right hand drive. To defeat the punishing horsepower tax then current in the UK, Ford Model As were manufactured for the British market with a smaller bore of 3.05 ins., instead of the American 3 7/8 ins., and right hand drive; then designated as Model AFs. Fuel economy and cheap tax were the upside: the downside was only 28 bhp, to the 40 bhp of the 3,286 cc Model A. Ford used top-quality steel, and this example remains very sound indeed. The radiator shell and bumpers are correctly nickel-plated, and under the bonnet all appears correct and as expected. Ford used the punning name 'Tudor' to describe the 2-door saloon body style. Inside, the Bedford cord upholstery trim and carpets are an exact copy of the original, and are in excellent condition. The speedometer records 68,497 miles and a vacuum-operated windscreen wiper is fitted. The door and winder handles are missing from the driver's door.
