The introduction of the Model A Ford in 1927 was perhaps the automotive turnaround of the century. By the close of 1926, with sales slipping and the model T becoming further antiquated, many had counted Henry Ford's genius to have passed its prime. That was however, only a momentary thought as the Ford Motor Company utilized the forward thinking of Henry's son Edsel, who pushed for a modernization of the Model T for the 1927 model year. The retooling for the Ford model A was accomplished in ten months at a cost of $240,000,000 and Mr. Ford didn't borrow a dime. This roadster was a Vermont barn find discovered by Ford collector Paul Sargent of Fairlee, Vermont in the 1980's. In 1992, the car was purchased by Robert Rose of Hanover, New Hampshire, who commissioned Scott Sargent of Pebble Beach fame to restore the car. A complete body off restoration was completed in 1993. The car was finished in black with apple green pin striping and wheels. LeBaron Bonney supplied the correct leather interior, top and side curtains. For accessories it carries a trunk rack, trunk, dual tail lights, a left side mounted spare and a "Motometer" radiator cap. The car was purchased in 2002 by the vendor who used the car sparingly. Recently a complete engine rebuild was performed by Tree Tops Autos in Melvin Village, New Hampshire; with invoices of $4,600. The Model A Deluxe Roadster was popular in its day and is highly prized by collectors today.
