The BSA 125 ‘Bantam’, developed from the same DKW design used post-war by Harley-Davidson, MZ and Yamaha, among others, was at first a beautifully simple lightweight, adaptable for all uses from racing to rounding-up sheep. Inevitably, more elaborate versions appeared, the first being the adoption of BSA’s then standard plunger rear suspension. Though this idea was a blind alley in motorcycle terms, in fact it suited the little Bantam very well. GVS 915 is such a ‘springer’ machine, which has been very well rebuilt to its original specification by its late engineer owner as part of his collection of Bantams, his favourite machine. On SORN since 2005, it will require only minimal re-commissioning before use and is complete with a V5C and old MOT certificates.
