Sa restauration ancienne a magnifiquement résisté au temps et ne laisse transparaître que des défauts mineurs, traduisant l'usage et la "vie" de cette intéressante automobile. D'après les archives Alfa Romeo, elle est sortie d'usine le 30 août 1953 et a été livrée le 15 septembre à Rivarolo Canavese, près de Turin, en Italie. La teinte de la carrosserie porte le nom poétique de "bigio scuro". La voiture est toujours équipée de son moteur d'origine. Le compteur kilométrique affiche 37 034 km et le compartiment moteur est impeccable. Le moteur 1900 présente sa configuration particulière, à mi-chemin entre les mécaniques racées d'avant-guerre et la configuration finale du fameux "double arbre" des Giulietta, Giulia et leurs dérivées. Ainsi, une conduite d'eau passe sous le carter qui relie les deux cache-arbres à cames, ce qui est peu habituel. Ce moteur doté d'un carburateur Weber émet un son rauque et sportif, rappelant qu'il a connu une brillante carrière en compétition. La voiture est accompagnée d'un certificat ASI et de son libretto d'origine, qui permet de constater qu'elle a connu sept propriétaires avant de rejoindre le garage de notre collectionneur. Son mécanicien nous a indiqué que les freins avaient été revus (tambours et maître-cylindre révisés, mâchoires regarnies) et que le réservoir d'essence et la carburation avaient aussi fait l'objet d'un contrôle et d'une mise au point. Cette rare Alfa Romeo 1900, moderne par sa structure monocoque et son moteur en alliage léger, témoigne du renouveau de la marque au lendemain de la guerre.
