Terrot introduced its first motor scooter – the VMS – at the Paris Salon in October 1951. When it came to its looks, the French maker could not be accused of imitating the leaders in the field, Italy, for the bulbous VMS seems to have been inspired by the styling of contemporary American sedans. Beneath the generously proportioned hull there was single-sided suspension at both ends, which made for easy wheel changing. In 1953 the 98cc two-speed original was superseded by the 125cc VMS2, while the VMS3 of 1954 came with a three-speed gearbox. Repainted but otherwise highly original, this VMS2 carries a plaque engraved by the original owner, M Chambrier. Last insured for road use to September 1999, the machine is offered with French Carte Grise normale.
