1954 JAGUAR XK140 MC ROADSTER Chassis No. S-810529 Engine No. G1789-8S Midnight blue with beige leather interior and beige soft top Engine: six cylinder, double overhead camshaft, 3,442cc., C-Type head 210bhp at 5,750rpm; Gearbox: four-speed manual; Suspension: front independent, rear semi-elliptic leaf springs; Brakes: four wheel drum. Left hand drive. After building the successful XK120 for six years, Jaguar introduced the XK140 in October 1954. The new model still sported the classic XK shape, but incorporated some restyle changes such as stronger bumpers and turn signal indicators set into the front fenders. The real change however was the repositioning of the engine three inches forward on the chassis that allowed more room in the cockpit. The standard engine produced 190bhp, but the Special Equipment model, or MC, with the C-Type head developed 210bhp. This car is a matching numbers 140 Roadster MC that has been fully and professionally restored to the highest of standards. The body was taken off the chassis and stripped, prepared and powder coated with all suspension bushes and running gear refurbished and replaced. A complete new braking system has been fitted, as has a complete new electrical system. The engine was rebuilt and blueprinted with balanced crank, new pistons and linings, valves, seats, etc. and was then dyno tested. The gearbox was checked and new seals were fitted. The driveshaft was reconditioned and the differential received new seals. The car also had a new stainless steel dual exhaust system fitted. All of the hardware was either black dioxide prepared or cadmium plated as necessary and the restorers managed to use about 99 of the original parts throughout. The Jaguar was completely repainted in Midnight Blue and then retrimmed with beige Connolly leather upholstery, new carpets and new beige Stayfast soft top and side curtains. All the brightwork was redone and the gauges were restored. The car has a new set of chrome wire wheels, whitewall tires and relevant tools. This is a magnificent example that has been restored to the highest standards and we thoroughly recommend close inspection.
