Delivered new on April 1 st 1955 by the Brooklands Aston Martin agent, the first owner being Mr B Webb-Ware of Guildford, Surrey. The car remained in his ownership for some time with the next owner noted in November 1967 as Captain Ivan Forshaw of the well renowned Aston Martin agents Aston Services Dorset. Correspondence from Capt. Forshaw to the vendor in 1987 suggests that he purchased the car from a surgeon in Scotland and 'Ill advisedly sold the car' to the next owner in February 1969, Colonel Beauchamp of Bristol. He continues 'I ought to have kept it, but there were lots of cars around in those days!'. In another letter written in 1976 by Capt. Forshaw to the third owner, he again mentions his regret in selling the car as 'Convertible bodies are rare, and this was a very quick one'. Acquired by the vendor in 1983/84, LML/913 has seen regular European use including trips to Sienna via the Stelvio Pass, Le Mans and Normandy. Maintained throughout the 1970's and 1980's by Four Ashes Garages, the history file contains various invoices for works carried out at that time. More recently between 1996 -1998 saw in excess of £15,000 of restoration work carried out by Jock Bruce of Surrey. At that time the engine was fully rebuilt, the bulkhead and chassis members were also restored. In 1997 the seats were re-trimmed by Connolly and a new Black Mohair hood was fitted in 1998. Recent work in September 2009 by Davron, Aston Martin specialists saw the rear shock absorbers and drop links rebuilt. An electric fan is fitted to aid cooling in traffic and seat belts have also been fitted. The history file contains invoices for the aforementioned works and various parts bills from Aston Services Dorset. A Buff Log Book is supplied along with a current V5 document showing four owners from new! A copy of the original build sheet is also included as well as a current MoT road test certificate. This very original DB2/4 Drophead comes to the market from long term ownership and offers buyers an exciting opportunity to acquire a very rare open Feltham Aston Martin. With only 102 DB2/4 Mk1 believed to built with Drophead coachwork, this car forms an important part of Aston Martin history.
