1955 NEW YORK YANKEES TOUR OF JAPAN TEAM SIGNED CONTRACT AND ORIGINAL PHOTOS FROM TOUR Immediately following the Yankees loss to the Dodgers in the 1955 World Series the still reeling Bronx Bombers set out on a goodwill tour of Japan. The Yankees drew a record crowd of 64,000 when they played their first game against the All-Japan Stars in Osaka. During the 25-game tour Andy Carey slugged 13 home runs and Elston Howard batted .468. This is the original agreement between Ford Frick and the members of the 1955 New York Yankee team to make their overseas journey. Dated August 5, 1955, the six-page document is signed on a single page by: Stengel, Morgan, Berra, McDougald, Wiesler, Turley, Carey, Mantle, Byrne, Noren, Turner, Bauer, Coleman, Silvera, Leja, Ford, Robinson, Larsen, Skowron, Howard, Cerv, Konstanty, Sturdivant, Kucks, Dickey, Grim, Richardson and Mauch. George Weiss of the Yankees and Mainichi Shibun representing Japan also have signed the agreement. Also included is an original 8" by 10" photo showing the complete New York Yankees team standing on the field before one of the exhibition games as well as twenty other Tour related photos of mostly off-field activities. LOAs from PSA/DNA, JSA and the Stengel family.
