Beschreibung:

James began concentrating on the manufacture of two-stroke lightweights in the 1930s. In 1951, James joined the Associated Motor Cycles group, joining Francis-Barnett. First, they used Villiers engines and from 1957 many used AMC's own engine. James adopted the 'Colonel' name in 1953 for a new model powered by the single-cylinder 225cc Villiers 1H engine, and used the new swinging arm frame shared with the 197cc Captain. Full width hubs and hydraulically damped front fork were introduced in 1955 and was the same form until 1957. We are advised this example's engine is fitted with the top end from a Villiers 2H and thus displaces 246cc. Owned since 1998 and restored in 2002, it boasts a new exhaust system, seat, wheel rims, tyres, etc and is described as in generally good condition, having covered very few miles since completion. Currently SORN'd, 'XFO 860' comes with a quantity of engine spares, instruction manual, spare parts list and Swansea V5.
