U.S. registration, EU customs cleared certificate Chassis # 5500272 Engine # 5500263 - Ceremonial car - Brilliant motor - State of origin exceptional - Low Mileage To revive its status prior to the Second World War, Mercedes-Benz unveiled in 1951 the 300 limousine, with an efficient 3-liter six-cylinder engine featuring overhead camshafts, which would eventually serve as the basis for the future automotive legend, the 300 SL. One of the first cars was a ceremonial car it would be referred to as the "Adenauer" in honor of the German Chancellor then who used one regularly. Available in several body styles, including a saloon without a central pillar, the car would steadily evolve till 1962. This 300c version that is on offer here has the version of the engine that develops 125bhp which can propel the car to a max speed of 160 km/h, which at that time was the kind of speeds that was the domain of sports cars. Production of this model was limited to just 1,432 units. This beautiful Mercedes 300c was delivered new to the garage Alpspitz in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. In 1958, its first owner shipped the car to California, Palo Alto, and its last owner, Mr. Oscar Shrimp kept this car from 1969 to 2012, more than 40 years in the same hands! He regularly presented this beautiful Mercedes at exhibitions and used the car during the weekends. All invoices for this period are part of the record. Today, the meter shows only 71,612km and the car is offered in an original state that is indeed rare. It has no rust and the interior was restored 12 years ago using the same fabric as the original and it is in a flawless state. The car comes with its books, tools and even the original maintenance log book! Drivability of the car is excellent and the operating it calls for no particular criticism whatsoever. It is rare to find such a car in a as good a condition and working so well, which is what makes this a particularly interesting opportunity.
