Beschreibung:

1956 MGA 1500 ROADSTER Chassis No. HDC4315218 Red with gold racing stripe, tan interior and top Engine: four cylinder, overhead valve, 1,489cc, 72bhp at 5,500rpm; Gearbox: four speed manual; Suspension: front, independent, coil springs, wishbones, rear, semi-elliptic leaf springs; Brakes: front and rear drum. Left hand drive. Britain's best loved sports car had retained its traditional styling until 1955 when it was modernized as the MGA. The new model MGA replaced the MG T-series which, despite selling particularly well, was becoming technically obsolete in comparison to the rival TR2 and Austin-Healey 100. The MGA was also notable for introducing several Abingdon 'firsts' - it was MG's first car with a streamlined body, its first to use a BMC engine and transmission and its first 100mph model. The example on offer here is a sound example of this attractive and fun British sports car. For additional performance and to reflect the sporty racing stripe, a Weber 45 carburetor has been fitted at some point but otherwise the car appears to be in standard configuration. The interior has been wonderfully retrimmed thus presents particularly well and one would assume that the odometer reading of just over 2,900 miles is the distance covered since restoration. Both the chrome and the paintwork are presented to what could best be described as driver standard and if immediate use is the intention, neither would warrant attention. Recent mechanical work has included a thorough service and new springs were fitted. A great, solid example, this attractive MGA is ready for immediate use.
