1960 Austin Healey 3000 Mk. I BT7 Lot Number 292 Chassis Number HBT7L6275 Engine Number 29D/RU/9045 Odometer reading 9,720 miles Estimate £28,000 - £35,000 Result Sold - £34,720 Print details Send this to a friend The 'Big' Healey enjoyed steady development, with the early four-cylinder cars giving way to the 100 Six in 1956, which in turn was replaced by the first of the 3000s in 1959. The new car featured an enlarged 2912cc version of Austin's six cylinder engine with twin SU carburettors and Girling front disc brakes offering excellent performance resulting in the model becoming a great success. The 3000 was only referred to as the Mk. I once the Mk. II model was introduced in 1961. Other changes were minor compared to those between the original 100 and the 100-6. The wheelbase and body were unchanged as were the body-styles, a 2+2 or BT7 and a two-seater BN7. This extremely well-presented and restored example was imported from the US in March of this year. Since then, it has been stripped and painted in the correct and original yellow. The engine and gearbox reportedly runs perfectly and the braking system is new as is the steering system. The exhaust has also been replaced with new suspension all round and new electrical system. Internally, new threshold, door-seals, soft-top and frame can be found alongside all new carpets and upholstery. The dashboard itself is original although has new material fitted as well as the original dials. Complete with correct duty documentation, this exciting example has been well prepared and looks funs as it drives.
