The Austin-Healey 3000 was built from 1959 to 1967 and is the best known of the 'big' Healey models. The car's bodywork was made by Jensen Motors and the vehicles were assembled at the BMC Abingdon works. The 3000 was a successful car which won its class in many European rallies during its heyday and also ran at Le Mans during that period; as such, it is still used in competition by enthusiasts today. The Austin-Healey 3000 was the replacement for the 100/6 model. The new car featured an enlarged 2912cc version of Austin's six cylinder engine with twin SU carburettors and Girling front disc brakes offering excellent performance resulting in the model becoming a great success. The 3000 was only referred to as the Mk. I once the Mk. II model was introduced in 1961. Despatched from the BMC plant on 21 st May 1960 and exported to Pennsylvania in the USA, this Healey has recently been repatriated to the UK. The vendor is a knowledgeable car enthusiast and describes this car as being in very good order throughout. The white coachwork shows no sign of corrosion and the interior has a pleasant patina. According to the Heritage Certificate this BN7 was manufactured with the following optional extras; wire wheels, heater, adjustable steering column and an overdrive unit to the gearbox. An application has been made to register the car in the UK and the car is supplied with an MoT test certificate valid until 27 th September 2016 (no advisories). This is certainly one of the better lefthand drive Austin-Healey's we have seen coming back from the U.S. and given the huge interest in the marque of late, very attractively estimated.
