Offered for sale is a 3.8 L 1963 Jaguar E-Type Series I Fixedhead Coupe manual that has been with the current owner for the last 22 years. Coming with no history file, this lot's condition scores 32 / 135.
Classic Car Auctions says: An exciting and important 'barn find' from a deceased's estate...This original UK right-hand drive, manual 3.8 Series I Coupé was first registered on 12th June 1963, and last changed hands in 1993. This early E-Type is being offered from a private collection which forms part of a deceased estate. It's believed that this car has been sitting in a barn for around the last 20 years, and whilst it was driven in there by its owner, it is difficult to establish what happened afterwards. It looks as though some light restoration was being planned, as there is a pile of new parts close to the car and it has been partially stripped. The bumpers are off, as are the headlamp covers, the engine air filter and carpets and trim. The deceased owned the car for twenty-two years, and was well respected and believed to be particularly proud of his car, so it would make sense that he was planning a bit of a tidy-up. This car is not a wreck. The body looks sound, the visible chassis members and engine bearers look fine, the dashboard, glass and wheels look good and the tyres still have air in them. There is an original factory workshop manual and service manual with the car but that's about it. No bills, no V5, no MoTs and naturally we are unable to confirm if the car is matching numbers. Its former original registration number is 5701 LG and the current registration number BVH 724A has been on the car since 1991. All interested parties should satisfy themselves prior to the auction as to what needs doing. The car will be available to view on the viewing afternoon and the morning of the auction, unfortunately, the car will not be available for viewings prior to this date.
