Beschreibung:

1964 MERCEDES BENZ 230 SL CABRIOLET Chassis No. 113 042 10001 980 White with black top and maroon interior. Engine: six-cylinder in-line, overhead camshaft, 2,300cc 170bhp at 5,600rpm, Bosch fuel injection; Gearbox: four-speed manual; Brakes: front, disc, rear, drum; Suspension: front, independent, rear, single joint swing axle, coil springs. Left-hand drive. The 230SL was introduced in 1963 to replace the 190SL. It was an instant success and is considered by many to enjoy Mercedes' most handsome styling. Choices available were a roadster with a manually operated soft top, a removable hard top - or both. Although this 2-seater SL was designed as a touring car it enjoyed modest sporting success in the Liège-Sofia-Liège Rally. The 230SL is the lightest of the series and is more nimble than the succeeding 250 and 280 SL models. A top speed of 125mph is quoted. This 230SL is said by the owner to be in very good original condition over overall.
