La première Austin-Healey à moteur quatre cylindres fit place en 1956 à la première version à six cylindres qui elle-même donna le jour en 1959 à la 3000 à moteur trois litres dont le succès prolongé justifia une évolution sous trois formes dites Mark I (1959), Mark II (1962) et Mark III 964-1967). Cette dernière fut la plus puissante (150 ch) et la plus luxueusement équipée. La Mark III de couleur jaune présentée à la vente, est un modèle Convertible de 1966 livré en septembre 1965 en Californie. Elle est dotée de roues larges à moyeus Rudge, d'une préparation avec suspensions renforcées, d'un ventilateur additionnel et d'un hard-top. Le moteur a été révisé en 2009. While the new Healey shown at the 1952 London Car Show was as sensation with the public, it was also of great interest to the boss of the new British Motors Corporation: due to its mechanical design based on Austin pieces and its new modern, elegant and masculine design which answered his desire to produce a sports model at a low cost with a view to the American market.
