1966 Jaguar E-Type Series I Fixedhead Coupé Lot Number 205 Registration HOV 78D Chassis Number 1E 32500 Engine Number 7E 72119 Odometer reading 22,600 miles Estimate £110,000 - £130,000 Result Sold - £125,000 Print details Send this to a friend Launched at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, the Jaguar E-Type was nothing short of a revelation. With its heady blend of supercar performance, breath-taking styling and low price tag, the newcomer left rivals reeling and customers clamouring. Early sports car racing success at the hands of Graham Hill and Roy Salvadori, amongst others, helped cement its reputation. Built as a monocoque with a front sub-frame to cradle the engine, the model's combination of all-round independent suspension, rack and pinion steering and four-wheel disc brakes gave it excellent road holding and handling capabilities. Built on the 5th January 1966, chassis 1E32500 is offered for sale today with a fully traceable history verifying the incredible mileage of just 22,600 miles. The car was sold new by Jaguar Cars New York to its first owner, Paul R. Ried Jr. of Brookline, Massachusetts. This example comes with its original engine and gearbox as well as a bill of sale, warranty card, service booklet, the original Blaupunkt radio instructions and the owners handbook in the correct folder. The history file details the service items over the years and includes the hand-written notes attached under the bonnet which the second owner chose as his aid memoire. This is one of a handful of cars that has never been restored or pulled apart. Still sporting its original opalescent silver grey paint, red interior and factory crayon marks on bulkhead, it is supplied with a UK V5 document, an MoT test certificate valid until February 2018 and a Heritage Trust Certificate. Offering the new owner one of the best examples of iconic British motoring history, this head-turning time warp example can only be described as being in original and exceptional condition throughout and should also prove to be a solid, blue-chip investment for the future.
