1966 Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster (4.2 litre) Lot Number 285 Registration HOV 94D Chassis Number 1E12467 Engine Number 7E7734-9 Odometer reading 23,858 miles Estimate £84,000 - £92,000 Print details Send this to a friend 1 more image The Jaguar E-Type was manufactured between 1961 and 1975 and its combination of good looks, high performance and competitive pricing established the marque as an icon of 1960's motoring. A great success for Jaguar, more than 70,000 E-Types were sold during its lifespan. The Series I was introduced, initially for export only, in March 1961 with the domestic market launch coming four months later in July 1961. The cars at this time used the triple SU carburetted, 3.8 litre six cylinder XK engine from the XK150’s. The first 300 cars built had flat floors and external bonnet latches and are considered rare and more valuable. After that, the floors were dished to provide more leg room and the twin hood latches moved to inside the car with the 3.8 litre engine increased to 4.2 litres in October 1964. This lefthand drive E-Type Series I Roadster was imported from the U.S. and is now registered on UK number plates. We are advised that the previous owner had used the car as his daily transport and, as such, took care of everything mechanically. However, this E-Type would benefit from some investment to the coachwork as, although the body appears to have little or no corrosion, the paintwork and interior does require some attention. The current vendor purchased her in 2013 and used it regularly for a year. However for the last three years she has sat in a barn and the vendor has decided it is time to create some space. Series I E-Types are highly desirable and sought after, this example is probably best described as a rolling restoration as the engine fired up immediately and purred even after standing for six months. Supplied with a V5C registration document.
