Beschreibung:

"Not a saloon car, not a sportscar, but a bit of each. It is hard to described the Mercedes-Benz 230SL properly as it breaks entirely new ground in concept and would be difficult to emulate, but is surely intended as a grand touring car which offers two people every possible comfort over very long distances." - Sporting Motorist, 1965. Introduced at the Geneva Salon in March 1963 as replacement for the 190SL, the 230SL founded a sportscar dynasty that would prove an enormous commercial success for Mercedes-Benz. In place of the 190SL's four-cylinder engine there was a 2.3-litre fuel-injected six derived from that of the 220SE and producing 150bhp. Top speed was in the region of 120mph. Christened 'pagoda top' after their distinctive cabin shape, these SL models were amongst the best-loved sports-tourers of their day. This example was delivered new to the USA and imported into Europe in 2000, enjoying one owner in the Netherlands since arriving. Bodywork, interior and electrics are reported as 'restored' and the engine, transmission and chassis as 'serviced'. An automatic transmission model finished in blue with matching leather interior, the car is offered with toolkit and valid Netherlands registration and roadworthiness papers.
