Proietti restoration Many performance upgrades Low ownership It is hard not to love the Fiat 500. It was produced between 1957 and 1975 with limited production of the Fiat 500K estate continuing until 1977 and was designed by Dante Giacosa. Despite its diminutive size, the 500 proved to be an enormously practical and popular vehicle throughout Europe, capturing the hearts and minds of the public. Launched as the Nuova (new) 500, it was marketed as a cheap and practical town car. Measuring only three metres long and originally powered by a 479cc two-cylinder, air-cooled engine, the 500 redefined the term 'small car' and is considered one of the first city cars. With numerous variations available since its inception, the shape and appeal has remained roughly the same and its desirability and 'smiles-per-mile' easily parallels the British Mini. This lovely little Fiat 500 was fully restored and upgraded by renowned North London based Fiat 500 specialist R. Proietti. The car was treated to a ground up restoration including a full bare metal respray, professionally completed in period Gulf Racing colours, (including period stickers), interior retrim, widened wheel arches to accommodate larger tyres and Minilite style wheels, as well as an upgraded 595cc engine, gearbox and sports exhaust. The vendor reports that the little Fiat now really flies along and is great fun to drive. Supplied with its UK V5C registration document showing only one previous registered keeper, history file including receipts from R. Proietti, Fiat 500 brochures and old MoT’s. This useable and quick little Fiat 500 represents masses of fun for a modest outlay! Interested parties should note this vehicle has a reduced estimate of £6,000 - £10,000
