La classe W116 marque une rupture totale avec le passé. Cette 6.9 L produite à 7380 exemplaires entre 1975 et 1980 est équipé du plus gros moteur automobile produit en Europe et présente des performances exceptionnelles. La voiture de la vente fut vendue neuve par Emil Frey à Genève à la mission permanente d'Arabie Saoudite auprès de l'ONU à Lausanne. Elle est équipée de l'ultra rare séparation chauffeur, de sièges chauffants à l'arrière, de la climatisation et d'un rare réfrigérateur situé dans la malle de marque Becker / Frentzel et de clenches de portes anti-émeute manœuvrables de l'intérieur. It was based on the W116 S-Class long wheelbase chassis, and was launched in 1972, geared towards mainly a clientele made of businessmen, stars or race drivers. Equipped with a 6.9-liter V8 developing 286bhp, it was undoubtedly the ultimate interpretation of the "Autobahn Kurier" from the 1930s and it offered performance to rival the best sportscars of the period. The W116 class marked a complete break with the past. An extraordinary luxury limousine, with the performance worthy of a sportscar of the period, the 6.9 L offered impressive performance and exceptional comfort thanks to its hydropneumatic suspension system.
