Introduced at the 1975 Paris Motor Show, the Pininfarina styled Ferrari 308 GTB was the replacement for the Ferrari Dino 246. In 1980, Bosch K-Jetronic mechanical fuel injection was added, creating the 308 GTBi and GTSi. The cars were identical to the 308 GTB/GTS models, aside from the wheels that were of a slightly different design, whilst on the inside, the clock and oil temperature gauge were moved to the centre console. There was also a new black steering wheel with three perforated spokes, and seats of a different pattern. A total of just 494 GTBi and 1,743 GTSi models were produced before the 308 Quattrovalvole succeeded them, in 1982. This Ferrari 308 GTBi, is presented in its original colour of Giallo Fly and is complimented by the lightweight, magnesium, five-spoke alloy wheels that are shod with a set of Michelin TRX tyres, as fitted new in May 2012, having covered a little over 300 miles since that time. This 308 also features an additional spoiler to the rear and all glass, lenses, and ancillary items present in extremely good condition. The Ferrari is also equipped with, air conditioning, a larger front spoiler, rear spoiler, ventilated disc brakes front and rear, Nardi steering wheel, electric windows, radio/cassette, electric aerial, central locking, spare wheel, fire extinguisher and toolkit. The black leather interior is in good order; the condition of the upholstery is consistent with the car's mileage, displaying only light signs of use. Mechanically, the Ferrari's 2.9-litre, V8 engine features the Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection mated to a five-speed synchromesh gearbox. On test, the car performed well and, whilst not the quickest production Ferrari to leave Maranello, it still provides a thrilling drive with an enticing V8 soundtrack. Of note is the engine bay that is in very clean order. Recent work includes a full service, cambelt change, and new clutch at 35,131 recorded miles. The Ferrari was originally UK registered on 1st August 1981, and was supplied new by Lancaster Garages (Colchester) Ltd. The history file is complete with the original Ferrari document pack that includes both owner's manuals and the dealer-supplied service book. Records show that the Ferrari was first serviced in 1981 and then again in 1984, although the exact mileages are unknown. Interested parties should note that the mileages quoted have taken into account an odometer change at 15,041 miles in September 1989. The Ferrari was subsequently serviced at the following intervals: 15,568 miles, 22,895 miles, 24,343 miles, 31,550 miles with cambelt change, 33,971 miles, 34,563 miles, 34,934 miles with cambelt change, 35,023 miles, 35,052 miles and 35,151 miles with cambelt change, new clutch and exhaust manifolds in October 2015. A current MoT test certificate accompanies this 308 and is valid until 20 th September 2017. This is one of only 74 original righthand drive cars manufactured, of which fewer than 20 are believed to remain in existence; with this and the Ferrari 308 model, being one of the most classical shapes produced by Ferrari in the 1980s, we believe offers good value as Ferraris continue to rise in value and desirability.
