1985 Mercedes-Benz 500 SL Roadster Lot Number 131 Registration C108 DYT Chassis Number WDB1070462A033620 Engine Number 11796222006353 Odometer reading 127,317 miles Estimate £12,000 - £16,000 Result Sold - £12,320 Print details Send this to a friend The Mercedes-Benz SL class has been manufactured since 1954. The designation SL derives from the German 'Sport Leicht' or 'Sport Light' and was first applied to the 300SL 'Gullwing,' named after the upward-opening doors. The term SL-Class refers to the marketing variations of the vehicle, including the numerous engine configurations spanning five design generations. The Mercedes-Benz R107 and C107 cars were produced from 1971 through to 1989, being the second longest single series ever produced by Mercedes-Benz after the G-Class. The R107 took the chassis components of the mid-size W114 model and mated them to the larger engines from the S-Class (W116) and has become a benchmark of quality throughout the years. This very good Mercedes-Benz 500 SL Roadster was supplied new in London as a company car and was regularly serviced and maintained by main agents until 1999 when the mileage covered was 112,875 miles. The car has only covered 14,500 miles since which is confirmed by all the old MoT test certificates. Finished in diamond blue with matching factory hardtop and dark blue leather interior this 500 SL Roadster is fitted with the rear seat option which has had seat belts fitted by a previous owner for the safety of his children. The car is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in February 2018, three keys, hard top stand and a car cover. This Mercedes-Benz, being the more desirable 500SL, is a very reasonably priced icon from the 1980's and is an ideal car for the summer, roof down with blue skies above.
