1986 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster Lot Number 120 Registration C940CRU Chassis Number WDB1070412A039850 Engine Number 103892-22-000789 Odometer reading 182,416 miles Estimate No Reserve Result Sold - £8,207 Print details Send this to a friend Mercedes-Benz have been producing an SL model or range of models since 1954. The similarly styled but mechanically unrelated 190 followed in 1955 completing the first generation of cars. The second generation SL's began with the 230 in 1963 and was distinguished by its lower waistline, big curved screens and a distinctive optional hardtop that earned the model its nickname of `pagoda top'. The car featured a two-door monocoque body shell with independent suspension all round, coil springs and anti-roll bar at the front and semi-trailing arms, coil springs and anti-roll bar at the rear. The power assisted steering was Daimler-Benz's own re-circulating ball system. Over its seventeen year reign, the R107 range was powered by no less than eight different engines - two sizes of straight-six unit and six versions of V8's. This Mercedes-Benz was originally registered on 7th July 1986 and was a one family owned vehicle until recently. The current vendor has re-commissioned her and she is MoT’d until 2nd June 2018. The red coachwork is in good order as is the grey trim although the seat facings could do with a little time and investment. The engine ran very well during our demonstration and to be expected from these sturdily built Mercedes, C940CRU drives very well. Sitting on a good set of tyres and supplied with a hardtop together with a V5C registration document, this 300 SL is offered at no reserve and could well prove to be a bargain.
