1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Sport Coupé Lot Number 156 Registration D911 CST Chassis Number WP0ZZZ91ZGS102737 Engine Number 63G04200 Odometer reading 111,000 miles Estimate £30,000 - £35,000 Result Sold - £28,560 Print details Send this to a friend 6 more images The first Porsche 911 was introduced in 1963 as the replacement for the much loved Porsche 356. It has a distinctive design with a rear-engine and independent rear suspension, an evolution of the swing axle on the Porsche 356. The engine was also air-cooled until the introduction of the Type 996 in 1998. Since its introduction in 1963, it has undergone continual development, although the basic concept has remained little changed. In 1973, the Carrera name was re-introduced from the 356 Carrera which had itself been named after Porsche's class victories in the Carrera Panamericana races in Mexico in the 1950s. The most notable advances in 1984 were the introduction of the 3.2 litre engine. Although it remained an air-cooled 'flat six', the '3.2' was 80% new and incorporated an effective cam chain tensioner and associated lubrication system that at last addressed a perennial 911 shortcoming. With 231bhp on tap, the new 'boxer' motor endowed the Carrera with a level of performance approaching that of the original 911 Turbo of 1974. This striking UK-delivered example presents in Guards Red with original beige pinstripe velour interior and black carpets. The front seats have electric height and backrest adjustment, the radio is a Blaupunkt Toronto unit with CD/USB player. It also benefits from Bluetooth audio streaming and, usefully, Bluetooth telephone functionality. A recent body refurbishment ensures the paintwork is in excellent order throughout. The wheels are 16" Fuchs items with brand new N-rated Bridgestone rubber all round. A top-end rebuild took place some 5,000 miles ago with a brand new clutch 200 miles ago. Reputable specialists, Gmund Cars, sold and serviced D911 CST, further servicing evidence can be found in the history file. A solid example of Stuttgart's finest.
