1986 Porsche 911 SSE Lot Number 267 Registration C781 NHJ Chassis Number WPOZZZ912GS101738 Engine Number 63G02705 Odometer reading 53,586 miles Estimate £18,000 - £24,000 Result Sold - £20,720 Print details Send this to a friend This SSE or Supersport was supplied by Porsche and was based around the Turbo model - it is revered as the ultimate development of the original 911 that first appeared in 1963 prior to being replaced by the more complicated 964 series. These final cars were the most flexible and usable of Butzi Porsche original design with the all-alloy flat six engine which had been fuel injected since 1971. It received a final enlargement 3164cc, giving an extremely torquey 231bhp, enough to propel the lithe and slippery coupé to over 150mph with 0-60mph coming up in 5.6 seconds. All 3.2 litre Carreras feature galvanised bodies which, together with Porsche legendary build quality, ensures that these classics are long-lasting. With this reportedly being one of just 34 righthand drive Coupés ever built, it is a rare beast indeed and the quality of this example can immediately be seen upon inspection. The paintwork is in good order throughout with matching black leather 'tombstone' seating to the interior. The Fuchs wheels have been painted red to match the 'Carrera' script along the side and the over-all effect is striking and well considered. Both front and rear gas struts work well; a perennial problem with the 911 and with uprated carpeting to the bonnet area, much care has been taken with its presentation. With the car comes a highly detailed file of paperwork, bills and invoices, the most recent works including new front oil pipes, starter motor and battery as well as a host of other detailed items addressed to ensure the smooth running and trouble free motoring, a new owner can now expect. Together with an MoT test certificate valid until May next year, a V5C registration certificate and much more contained within the history file, this rare Supersport model 911 is a little-known but important development in the 911 legacy. Certainly one with the looks and performance that will ensure it becomes a collector's item in the years to come.
