1996 Alfa Romeo Spider Lot Number 139 Registration N660 GHK Chassis Number ZAR91600006017420 Engine Number 0188971 Odometer reading 86,000 miles Estimate No Reserve Result Sold - £1,568 Print details Send this to a friend 1 more image Enrico Fumia of Pininfarina's low slung wedge design with high 'kamm tail' was reminiscent of his earlier Audi-based Pininfarina Quartz prototype of 1981. The striking lines of the new Grand Turismo Veloce (GTV) and Spiders, revealed at Geneva Salon in 1995, earned countless prestigious design awards from most motoring quarters. Characteristically, the car features concealed headlamps, designed in conjunction with Carello, mounted beneath a clamshell bonnet with illumination port-holes. Build quality was notably a close match to its German rivals and the GTV/Spider helped considerably with rejuvenating Alfa Romeo's reputation for beautiful design and quality crafted sportscars. The year 2000, two-litre cars were fitted with an upgraded twin-cam engine with 153bhp. First registered in April 1996, this stunning Alfa Romeo 2.0 Twin-Spark 16v spider is presented in the very best colour combination of Alfa Red with black trim and hood. The twin-spark engine is seen by many as the better handling option over the V6 due to the lighter nose and torque responsive drive provided by one of Alfa Romeos bestselling engines. The current private owner has lavished time in assuring this little spider is in good form and has recently fitted a new electric aerial and exhaust. We are also informed the spare wheel with tool kit is present as is some service history and old MoT test certificates. The new MoT test certificate is included valid until June 2018 and, with a reasonably low mileage, this is a great example of a modern classic, perfect for drop-top driving with Italian flair included.
