A new Bentley Turbo R model was introduced in 1995. Changes included Zytek fuel injection and appearance modifications. In 1996 production of the short wheelbase Turbo R ended, leaving only the model hitherto sold as the Turbo RL - now known simply as the Turbo R. For 1997, the Turbo R was replaced by the sportier yet Turbo RT. The Bentley Turbo RT was the last, rarest, most powerful and most expensive of the Turbo R line. The Bentley RT came with the 400bhp turbo, 6.75 litre, V8 engine of the Bentley two-door Continental T installed. It is visually differentiated from other Bentley Turbo R models by its sport wheels, colour-coded grille slats and colour-coded bumpers. Performance was 'sufficient' with a top speed limited to 150mph; the ultra-luxurious Turbo RT was nearly as fast as the sporting German luxury saloons of the time. The car's base price was £132,000, or roughly £40,000 more than the Turbo R and was produced during 1997 and 1998 only with just 252 units produced. This last of the line British Bentley with 400bhp on tap is currently kept by its fifth owner; prior to him, for three years, Joseph Morris held the controls and before him, Mr. Barry Smith From 0 to 60,000 miles, it benefits from a Bentley service history followed by Royce Engineering up until it was acquired by the vendor in August 2013. It is described by the vendor as being in generally good condition with an excellent interior. Supplied with original Alpine head unit and cd changer, it should be noted that there is an intermittent fault with the temperature gauge and the keyless remote does not always work first time. Priced accordingly, supplied with a full 12 month MoT test certificate and offering enormous value for money, these late special-edition Bentleys are becoming sought after
