Etant donnée sa notoriété, c'est sur le Championnat allemand que la firme de Sochaux va tout d'abord porter son choix. C'est là qu'entre en scène la voiture que nous vous présentons. Il s'agit en effet de l'auto qui a été préparée afin de participer au Championnat de Supertourisme Allemand pour la saison 1997. Le châssis a été réalisé par Peugeot Sport: un important travail de préparation de la caisse a été effectué avec l'installation d'un arceau multitubulaire, de suspensions avant et arrière adaptées à la compétition, de freins à disque Brembo 8 pistons. La préparation du moteur a, quant à elle, été confiée au célèbre préparateur PIPO: le bloc 2 litres à culasse alu développe maintenant 310 ch et est accouplé à une boîte de vitesses séquentielle à 6 rapports. D'après son propriétaire, cette 406 Supertourisme a donc effectué ses débuts en compétition dans le redoutable Championnat d'Allemagne 1997, pilotée par Laurent Aïello, où elle devra affronter les BMW et Audi officielles. Le résultat est époustouflant puisque dès cette première participation, l'auto remporte cette compétition si convoitée. L'année suivante, elle se classe seconde du Championnat SUDAM en Amérique latine aux mains de Juan Manuel Fangio Junior (le neveu...). La voiture conclut brillamment sa carrière sportive dans le Championnat de France de Supertourisme. Là encore, avec brio, c'est cette fois William David qui hérite du titre de Champion pour les deux saisons 1999 et 2000. C'est une véritable voiture usine que nous présentons, aux performances redoutables et au Palmarès exceptionnel, qui mérite amplement sa place au panthéon des championnes. The owner has told us that this 406 Supertourisme then made its debut in 1997, driven by Laurent Aïello, up against the official BMW and Audi entries. With jaw-dropping results: in its first season, the car won the coveted competition. The following year, it finished second in the SUDAM championship in Latin America, driven by Juan Manuel Fangio Junior (the nephew...). The car finished off an amazing career in the French Championnat Supertourisme, again performing with brio. This time, William David won the Championship title in 1999 and 2000. Here is a genuine factory car, with an outstanding racing provenance that has shown it is capable of terrific performances. It deserves its place on the podium.
