The Ferrari F355 was built from May 1994 to 1999 and was an evolution of the Ferrari 348. It is a mid-engined, rear wheel drive, V8-powered two-seat coupé. At launch, two models were available; the coupé Berlinetta and the Targa topped GTS. The Spider (convertible) version was introduced in 1995. One major difference between the longitudinal V8 in the 348 and that in the 355, apart from the displacement increase from 3.4 to 3.5 litres, is that the F355 features a five valve per cylinder head that is considerably more powerful, producing 375bhp. The nomenclature does not follow the formula from the previous decades, i.e. engine capacity plus cylinder number for example, the Ferrari 308 name comes from three litres plus eight cylinders, with the same for the 328, 348, 512 etc. This time, Ferrari used engine capacity plus number of valves per cylinder; proud to boast about this technological advancement, with the name 355 coming from 3.5 litres engine capacity and five valves per cylinder. The F355 has become the most popular model so far with over 11,273 cars produced. From a driver's perspective, the Berlinetta will always prove the more popular, the chassis possesses more rigidity and the overall car is lighter. And so it is with this example. Originally delivered to Germany and then sold on to a French gentleman, the service history details JCT Garages as his garage of choice in Anguleme up until 2014. It was then acquired by Acton Coachworks; they had the car lifted up into the air whereupon an awkward silence fell upon the assembled crowd. This car was not in as good fettle as it should be. At this point, interested parties should understand a little of the back-story. If you have a Ferrari, you must look after it. If you don't, its value will diminish. The best place to look after a Ferrari is Ferrari and in this country, this means H.R. Owen. Now H.R. The engine was dropped out for a full, no expense spared 'H.R. Owen' cam-belt service and new Capristo exhaust fitted. The car was stripped and re-painted with a meticulous attention to detail. All the owners' packs are with the car as is the tool roll and jack etc. Refurbished wheels, good rubber, new steering wheel. In many respects, this is a new car. It is certainly in excellent condition both mechanically and cosmetically. It naturally comes with a full 12 month warranty from H.R. Owen on all invoiced parts and to preserve the near-perfect finish, Level Two Topaz detailing has taken place with front end protective film.
