Description The Ferrari F355 is a modern classic, so beautiful, so well-engineered and so well received that it marked the beginning of the end of the old-guard ‘Ferraristi’ philosophy that the only “real” Ferraris were ones with 12-cylinder engines. The Ferrari F355 Berlinetta and Targa GTS burst onto the world stage in the spring of 1994. It had almost exactly the same dimensions as its predecessor the 348, yet it was virtually a new car, as its stunning coachwork indicated. Many hours of wind tunnel testing influenced the harmonious shape which incorporated an F1 style flat bottom with an air flow channel that generated enough down-force to offset any lift. The 355 GTS is the rarest of the three derivatives, only 434 cars were built. Inheriting the proportions of its predecessor (the 348) the Ferrari F355 was outwardly a much better-resolved proposition, both aesthetically and aerodynamically. But beneath the smoother skin were further major advancements, including power steering, variable damping, and a 100cc engine enlargement to 3.5 litres, In revised form, the now-375bhp V8 revved out to 8,500rpm and, even more impressively, conjured more bhp per litre than the V12 in the McLaren F1. This was now a 6 speed gearbox with a new type of synchromesh that made it much easier to shift. With Full Ferrari service history and only 22,000 original miles from new, this UK delivered RHD F355 GTS is spectacular and is one of only 74 built in GTS guise with F1 paddle shift gearbox. Built in 1999, the last year of production for the F355, this example comes with its original Ferrari handbook, factory floor mats and has full black leather interior. The 355 has proved a fantastic investment with prices rocketing for original, low mileage and fully Ferrari serviced cars, and this is perhaps one of the most desirable body styles which is arguably one of the rarest. Not to be missed. Next Lot » Enquire Your name Email Telephone Message Type your message Search Enter the make/model/year you are interested in
