‘When fitted with a top box and panniers the ZZ-R1100 feels like a Gold Wing on nitrous. Comfort is good but somewhat irrelevant when you’re scratching your way along French country lanes.’ – Bike magazine. Worthy successor to the GPz1000RX and ZX10, the ZZ-R1100 arrived on these shores in 1990 and immediately went straight to the top of the superbike performance charts, reigning as the ‘world’s fastest production bike’ until deposed by the Honda Blackbird and Suzuki Hayabusa. Even today the figures remain impressive: 120+bhp at the rear wheel, sub-11 second standing-quarters and a top speed in excess of 170mph, all delivered with an exceptional degree of comfort, stability and refinement. Indeed, so good was the ZZR at mile-munching that it rapidly became the sports-tourer of choice for those who wanted superbike performance without the associated discomfort, small tank range and lack of luggage-carrying capability. This D6 model was sold new via Hamilton Powersports, of Streatham, London SW16 and first registered in March 1999 to Craig Nell, of London SE23, whose name is on the accompanying warranty/service booklet (last stamped July 2000 at 10,269 miles. The machine was sold to Ken Sizer (its second owner) in September 2000 by Carnell, of Camberwell Road, London SE5 (sales invoice on file). Currently displaying a total of 15,376 miles on the odometer, ‘T106 DGT’ is offered with sundry invoices, range/model brochures, service (workshop) manual, two expired MoTs (most recent August 2005) and old-style/current Swansea V5/V5C documents.
