Carte grise française - Of very special provenance with a well-recorded history - Prepared by the best French Triumph specialist - In perfect condition, with very low mileage The Triumph Thunderbird 650 twin was launched in 1949 and was made famous as Marlon Brando's bike in the mythical 1953 movie "The Wild One". The T-Bird reappeared in 1995, but this time it was powered by a 885cc triple that developed 70bhp. The bike on offer was bought new by legendary French rock star Johnny Hallyday and was specially prepared for him by the famous French Triumph specialist Mécatwin (the invoice can be seen). The bike has barely covered 8,200km (a little over 5,000 miles) since new. The engine has been 'breathed upon' with competition Keihin FCR 39 carburetors, along with K & N air filters, plus the addition of stainless steel exhausts. The brake hoses have also been replaced with racing stainless steel ones. The chrome wheels have been replaced recently and now sports Dunlop Mutant tyres. The US-type handlebar is slightly higher, and is 'cow horn' shaped. The chain guard was redesigned by Mécatwin too. The rear-view mirrors are Ascots and the aluminum indicators are from Tracker. This beautiful motorcycle has been meticulously prepared and maintained and will surely be treasured by fans of either Triumph or Johnny Hallyday. A copy of the original registration certificate on behalf of Jean Philippe Smet (Johnny Hallyday's real name) is also available in the file. French registration
