In the year 2000, Saleen Autosport unveiled the S7 model, a beautiful supercar designed and built in the United States. A sleek, carbon fiber body powered by a 427 cubic inch small block V8 producing 550 naturally aspirated horsepower was well received within the automotive world. In 2005, Saleen upped the ante by adding two turbochargers to the engine. Appropriately named the S7 Twin Turbo, the car now produced an astounding 750 horsepower. With this boost in power, the car was estimated to be able to hit speeds of 248 mph sprint from 0-60 mph in only 2.7 seconds. This was quite the accomplishment for the company considering it was their first attempt at building a supercar. The car was designed by a team of talented engineers who utilized some excellent technology and knowhow to produce this fantastic machine. The car tips the scales at a mere 2,950 pounds thanks to a lightweight steel space frame complete with safety features like honeycomb aluminum crumple zones as well as an integrated roll cage surrounding the drivers' compartment. Many composites were also used to keep the weight down including constructing the body from carbon fiber as well as utilizing composite honeycomb structures for various panels on the frame. The body was extremely aerodynamically efficient, achieving a low drag coefficient while producing large amounts of downforce. This made for an excellent basis to show what the S7 could achieve on a racetrack, which is exactly what Saleen set out an did; enter the S7R race version. The S7R was campaigned over many race series and it did garner some positive results over the years. The S7R's competed in a multitude of events from the FIA GT Championship, 12 Hours of Sebring, Grand American Road Racing Championship, ELMS, ALMS, British GP as well as Spanish GP. Of the most notable competitions the S7 had attended, the 24 Hours of LeMans was most noteworthy. Having successfully raced there many times over the years, the pinnacle would be achieving a class victory at the 2010 race. With this success in racing, it was inevitable that a special, limited edition model be built to commemorate the great achievements of its racing career. In 2017, Saleen announced that it would recommission a small amount of S7's and revitalize a new and improved limited model. This model became known as the S7-LM, in respect to their legacy at the LeMans circuit. Saleen stated they will only build seven examples of this new LM version. As with its namesake, the seven in S7 denotes the displacement of the engine powering this great vehicle This revamped LM model received some serious updates from the manufacturer including a very generous increase in horsepower, redesigned aerodynamics, new forged center locking wheels as well as a revised interior. THE MOTORCAR OFFERED This 2007 Saleen S7-LM was one of the few examples to be recommissioned, with this example being completed in 2018. This vehicle is marked on its number plaque as LM-003. Having only had one owner and completing only about 300 miles since its purchase, LM-003 is still showing in excellent condition. Finished in a beautiful silver paint with black accents, the color suits this sleek carbon fiber body quite well. The interior is delivered in black leather/alcantara with yellow accent stripes on the seats as well as the 12'o'clock position stripe on the steering wheel.
