Sullivan, Ashland, Virginia.” Maureen Orcutt reached prominence as one of the world's best amateur female golfers long before joining The New York Times in 1937, when she became only the second female sports reporter at the paper. Mrs. Willard P. Sullivan was one of ten on the 1938 USGA Women’s Committee, representing Ashland, Virginia (as stated and pictured on page 4).
