With swamped sighted barrel in two stages divided by a moulding, the forward section of 'hog's back' form, the octagonal breech section struck thrice with brass-lined Maastricht or Nijmegen mark (similar to Neue Støckel 1563) and stamped 'Coma' in a rectangle (similar to Neue Støckel 191) on the rear of the top flat, large brass ring back-sight, brass-lined touch-hole, swelling tang with overlaid brass plate engraved with acanthus foliage, polished faceted lock with moulded border signed below the steel-spring, engraved with foliage on a hatched ground and chiselled in relief with a grotesque mask on the tail, the cock, and the steel, and with a monster-head on the lower border, figured walnut full stock carved in relief with foliated scrollwork (minor bruises, fore-stock mostly replaced), cast and chased brass mounts, pierced foliate side-plate involving two monster-heads, moulded trigger-guard with acanthus foliage on the bow and the finial and unusual indented tang, moulded butt-plate with a figure of Mars on the stepped tang, vacant foliate escutcheon with coronet above, three turned and faceted ramrod-pipes (the forward two expertly replaced), and associated horn-tipped ramrod (iron parts with some light surface pitting) 118.1 cm. barrel
