Marked on back: “Joseph Graff, Prag” A Prague Baroque table clock with chimes on the quarter hour and two bells. Engraved, richly decorated front panel with a gilt brass dial, decorated in the corners with allegories of the four seasons, lunar phase, steel cut hands. Decoration with red textile in the upper section below the mansard roof. Richly engraved decoration around the clockmaker’s signature on the clock mechanism in back. Joseph Graff was born in 1739 and died in 1780. He was a leading Prague clockmaker, and his clocks are currently included in major collections and at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague. Restored clock case.
