A Belgian mahogany four-glass apprentice mantel regulator Georges van Der Cruyssen, Bruxelles. Circa 1925 The case with stepped and moulded pediment above a breakarch top, bevelled glass panels, on spreading rectangular base raised on toupie feet, with brass bezel to a silvered dial with engraved Roman chapters and signed GEORGES VAN DER CRUYSSEN 1925 ECOLE PROF.ELLE DE MÉCANIQUE DE PR©CISION ET D'ELECRICITÉ DE BRUXELLES , with blued steel hands, the dial and movement bayonet-fixed to the top of the case by a cast-iron bracket, the high quality four tapering pillar movement with square spot-finished plates, secured by large steel screws to front and back, the single barrel movement with inverted deadbeat escapement, the walnut rod pendulum suspended low on the backplate, with fine adjustment to the crutchpiece and calibrated rating nut, original nickel-plated key pierced with the initials G.V. 27in. (68.5cm.) high
