A black and white, sepia toned postcard photograph of the German Army Officer and Statesman Paul von Hindenburg and his wife Gertrud, signed "von Hindenburg" on the right margin and "Gertrud Hindenburg" on the left margin, minor wear to the edges and a couple of smudges on signatures, 15.5 x 8.5cm, c. 1915. Hindenburg was a successful officer in the Prussian Army and was made General in 1903, before retiring in 1911. He was recalled to the German Army at the beginning of WWI and was sent to the Eastern Front. After German defeat Hindenburg became President of the German government in 1925, holding the position until his death in 1934.
