A BÖTTGER BLACK GLAZED SILVER-GILT-MOUNTED RED STONEWARE TEAPOT AND COVER CIRCA 1710-11 Of campana form with a square-section auricular handle and curved spout, the flat cover with a peg finial, glazed to simulate Oriental lacquer and engraved on both sides with a crowned oval panel flanked by scrolling foliate branches and suspending a drapery swag, the tip of the spout with a silver-gilt covered hinged mount engraved with acanthus leaf ornament and with a scroll thumb-piece, the upper handle terminal with a collar, both mounts joined to a ring around the finial with chains (small loss to silver-gilt thumb-piece, some minor surface scratches) 3 5/8 in. (9.2 cm.) high
