A BÖTTGER CHINOISERIE SQUAT BALUSTER SILVERGILT-MOUNTED TEAPOT AND COVER, the gilt curved spout with bearded mask terminal and the scroll handle with foliage terminals, the body applied with fruiting vine enriched in natural colours and with two birds perched in the branches, flanking two chinoiserie scenes painted by J.G. Höroldt with an Oriental taking water from a flared cistern and with two Orientals with eels in a tub by shrubs, the domed cover with applied trailing vine and with gilt button finial, the hinged silvergilt-mount with maker's mark of Elias Adam of Augsburg (minute chips to tip of spout, small section of vine-stock lacking and slight chips to three vine leaves, minute chip to inside of footrim), blue enamel crossed swords mark to base, circa 1725 11.5cm. high
