A BÖTTGER RED STONEWARE SILVER-GILT-MOUNTED FLASK AND COVER CIRCA 1715, BLACK ENAMEL INVENTORY NUMBER 184. R Of flattened baluster form derived from a silver shape, the sides applied with female masks, each with Régence foliate headdress, supported by scrolls with leaf terminals, the lower part moulded in low relief with strapwork, the gadrooned oval foot and the upper rim with plain silver-gilt mounts, the interior glazed in black, the silver-gilt spirally reeded cover with a small knop finial (chip to tip of one strap of a headdress, surface with small spots of black glaze from time of manufacture, fine crack along looting join on each side from time of manufacture, with some seepage of interior glaze on one side) 6¾ in. (17.1 cm.) high
