A BRONZE RITUAL WINE VESSEL AND COVER, YOU EARLY WESTERN ZHOU DYNASTY, 11TH CENTURY BC Of pear shape and lenticular section, raised on a spreading pedestal foot encircled by two bow-string bands, the shoulder cast with a band of paired dragons with long horizontal quills confronted on a small taotie mask cast in relief on each side, the domed cover with deep collar cast with a similar dragon band below the segmented knop, with a ridged bail handle terminating at rings that attach to loops on the vessel and are obscured by horned ungulate masks, the interior of the vessel and cover cast with a single graph, with a smooth mottled grey and milky green patina, some malachite encrustation on the interior 10 3/8 in. (26.3 cm.) high
